Film collection moves: IWM Duxford

The IWM film archive (http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/film) is stored in a series of cold storage buildings on the Northside (non-public) of IWM Duxford (DX).

The storage strategy underpinning this tender is to renovate the cold storage buildings at Duxford and relocate collections from London to Duxford.

One cold store at Duxford is currently empty and being renovated.

The empty building will be used as swing space to enable two further buildings to be decanted and renovated.

At the end of the building renovation programme the larger building will be used to store photographic collections from London.

The work supports a wider storage project to centralise storage at IWM DX to enable an increase in the public gallery offer at London branches.

This contract covers the movement of film archive collections between cold storage buildings on the Duxford Northside.

The Contract will consist of the following work: May 2017 - 2652 shelves (2360 linear meters); 22 filing cabinets Jan 2018 - 2844 shelves (2417 linear meters); 12 filing cabinets Late 2018/early 2019 - 2652 shelves (2360 linear meters);
