The brief

Expression of Interest to be considered for tender list - The Trust's Kingsway Site comprises of five individual mental health units together with corporate and Estates buildings.

The Kedleston Low Secure Unit provides a gender specific low secure service for males who demonstrate disturbed behaviour in the context of a serious mental disorder and who require the provision of security.

The works comprise the division of an existing bathroom to create two bathrooms and the refurbishment of a shower room on the Unit's Curzon Ward, which is the reception ward for the Low Secure Unit.

The works are to be carried out whilst the Unit continues in use and there will be a requirement to phase the works to a defined programme which will require the shower upgrade works to be completed prior to bathroom works commencing.

The ward and Unit will remain fully operational 24/7 during the works programme and tenderers will have to provide evidence of experience of working in NHS mental health 'live' ward locations due to the sensitivity and risk to all parties in working in this type of environment. No lone working of any type will be allowed.

All works must be completed before 31 March 2019 and the successful contractor must submit a programme for approval.

The Trust's Capital Team has a list of preferred suppliers who are experienced/specialists in the mental health environment and these suppliers will be named for doors, vision panels, glazing, sanitaryware and building services including the staff attack alarm system and fire alarm system works.
