Retail Study Brief 2015

Provision of consultancy services in respect of the preparation of a borough wide retail study for Halton.

Purpose of the Study National planning guidance expects local planning authorities to plan positively and to support town centres to generate employment and to create places where people want to live, visit and work.

It also expects the authorities to assess and to plan to meet the needs of main town centre uses in full.

The key purpose of this study is to act as the evidence base to assist in the formulation of future planning policy.

The study will form an important part of the evidence base for the Halton Local Plan.

This will contain a broad strategy for each of the Borough?s three main centres? allocations for sites and will cover a period of at least 20 years from adoption i.e. until 2037.
