These works should enable the pool to meet the PWTAG (Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group) standards, the PWTAG Code of Practice ensures that Medway Council, as the swimming pool operator, are able to comply with their general duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the associated regulations.
When complete, the works must ensure that the technical operation of a pool meets quality standards that provide a healthy experience for swimmers using recognised and established practices, techniques, engineering and design.
The successful bidder should, as far as is reasonably practicable, ensure that the pool operation meets all the current and anticipated legislation and is economically advantageous to operate.
Works may include such areas as; but are not limited to: The refurbishment as required of 2 x Main Pool, 1 x Diving Pool and 1 x Training Pool filtration vessels, to include: • the replacement of filter media • the disposal of existing media at a registered landfill site • an internal inspection of the underdrain system and inlet distribution system • an inspection of the concrete under bed • application of a solvent-free, epoxy lining, where required • replacement of existing air release valves with new automatic air release and bulk air drains • The installation of compliant lower manway with door to each filter vessel (current manways are not adequate) • Complete removal of all circulation cast iron/steel pipework, valves and fittings [including disposal].
Supply and installation of uPVC replacement pipework, butterfly valves and fittings and the reinstatement of the chemical dosing onto the new circulation system. • The installation of new dial gauge flow meter displays and orifice plate on each pool circulation system. • The replacement of the 3 x Chemical Dosing Controllers to the latest standard • The installation of a PAC [Polyaluminium Chloride] flocculent to the pool filtration systems
