The brief

The Authority is requesting consultation from the market regarding Adult Social Care Certificate Qualifications.

The Care Certificate is an already defined set of standards that provides a baseline level of knowledge and skills for new starters.

The government intends to provide funding for some training places when the qualification is made available and will confirm eligibility then.

The exercise is intended to provide Organisations with the opportunity to provide feedback on the delivery model for the new Care Certificate qualification.

This builds on a commitment to engage with the market, by sharing information and seeking input to enable us to consider the case for launching an Invitation to Tender (ITT) for one or more Awarding Organisations to develop the new Care Certificate qualification, and to ensure this is done in a fair and transparent manner.

This will ensure that the final ITT (if government decides to do this) provides all tenderers with a clear understanding of the Authority's requirement and help plan a successful project The Department is now considering the optimum delivery approach for the development of the Care Certificate qualification once the specification is ready that will ensure 50,000 - 100,000 funded training places are available for care workers to access from Summer 2024.

The estimated budget is around £7,000,000.00.

This is subject to further work, and is for the activity Awarding Organisations would carry out to develop the new Care Certificate qualifications for a period of up to 5 months.

The Authority will be providing separate funding for government funded places once qualifications are ready in 2024.

The information provided in early engagement and market consultation is subject to change.
