The brief

We are seeking to work in partnership with one national provider who can offer high quality teacher training.

The programme will lead to qualified teacher status (QTS) and should have opportunities for trainees to gain a PGCE with Masters credits.

Once gained there should be the opportunity to add to their master credits to gain a full masters qualification with the provider within a given timeframe.

Ideally this will be in an action research capacity through short manageable modules.

We have 32 primary academies, 29 secondary academies and 5 special academies across the Group, with 15 primary, 20 secondary and 3 special academies engaged with School Direct, along with 5 external schools.

We wish to award the contract to a single provider for all 66 academies in a phased approach.

The contract will be available to all academies within AET and also to those schools and academies that are users/customers of the AET Teaching School ( will be rebranded as AET Learning Institute in 2017 ) We would expect the nominated provider to have a successful track record in providing teacher training and the ability to provide this service nationally across the UK as an individual or in partnership with other HEI or SCITT providers.
