The brief

This is not a call for competition.

The overarching aim of this project is to generate recommendations on what works to improve mental wellbeing in different communities in Croydon using an evidence-based approach.

We want to learn about the barriers and enablers of different population groups to accepting and adopting wellbeing messages.

This is especially important in the current challenging times - aftermath of the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis.

The project will be delivered in 3 stages: 1.

Scope (research) will involve summarising evidence and undertaking community research to gain greater understanding of barriers and enablers to achieving good mental wellbeing especially in communities that are at greater risk of poor mental wellbeing.

An example of an evidence-based framework for improving wellbeing is the Five Ways to Wellbeing however we are open to other alternative evidence-based approaches.

2.

Test and apply evidence-based approaches to understand, ascertain, share, and amplify what works (approaches/interventions/messages) to improve mental wellbeing for our communities in Croydon.

3.

Make evidence-based recommendations on what interventions/approaches/messages are effective to improve mental wellbeing in different communities.

Some communities are at higher risk of poorer wellbeing and therefore it is important that this pilot/testing should be undertaken with a variety of communities across Croydon to gain maximum insight into the effectiveness of using a wellbeing approach.

Specific consideration should be given to underserved groups within the borough including families in deprived communities who are unemployed and or on low income and people with physical disabilities, among others.

It is important that local residents and Croydon's community and voluntary sector are closely involved and co-design this project so that the outcomes and recommendations are meaningful and relevant in shaping future mental health programmes in the borough, Croydon Council are holding an online market engagement event on Wednesday 13th September from 11.30am to 12.30pm on Microsoft Teams to engage with potential bidders for the provision of research into adult mental wellbeing within the community.
