Alongside over €1.5 billion of European Regional Development Fund support for businesses and communities across the North, the government has awarded £3.4 billion in three rounds of Growth Deals across the Northern Powerhouse.
The equipment will be used to support research, undergraduate training, continuing professional development of qualified therapeutic radiographers and contract activity for local clinical services (private and NHS) for patients suffering from trunk lymphoedema following treatment for breast cancer.
The 3D surface scanner will have the capability to track and quantify changes in body (size and shape).It will be able to be utilized by health agencies and local private sector providers, small private physiotherapy clinics, weight loss services, medical device manufacturers and private healthcare radiotherapy centres for research and development.
The benefits/likely outcomes are: 'Image guided therapy' to provide an improved more efficient product and/or service.
