The brief

3.1 Background Following recommendations from environmental health, NMRN Hartlepool is seeking quotes for improvements to the surface areas in the main kitchen.

Currently, the kitchen walls and floors are tiled and there is a tiled suspended ceiling.

It is proposed to upgrade the wall surfaces to HACCP approved cladding and to replace the floor tiles with a sealed, anti-slip surface suitable for a commercial kitchen environment.

The ceiling should also be replaced with an appropriate material.

There are numerous exposed pipes in various materials, making the kitchen difficult to clean.

This should also be addressed where possible.

Improvements should extend to the dry food store and walk-in fridge.

All submissions should meet the required safety standards of commercial kitchen environments.

3.2 Requirements 3.2.1 Walls Stainless steel or PVC cladding (or similar), sealed at edges Firesafe material impervious to moisture, grease and food particles Washable 3.2.2 Ceiling Tight wall to ceiling joint constructed in such a way as to prevent moisture or grease collecting in the corners Firesafe material impervious to moisture, grease and food particles Washable Access maintained for maintenance 3.2.3 Flooring Non-slip surface impervious to moisture, grease and food particles Coving where the flooring meets the wall to prevent build-up of dirt in corners 3.2.4 Plumbing and electrical work Proposals should include provision for improving exposed pipework for ease of cleaning e.g. by concealing pipework (but maintaining access for maintenance where required) Sockets should be surface mounted on the new wall surface and replaced where damaged.

3.2.5 Other Existing metal shelving and pest traps etc. should be removed and reinstated on top of the new cladding.
