The brief

South Cambridgeshire District council and partners wish to commission research to elucidate the housing, care and support needs of older people in the Cambridge area, in the context of current policy and practice.

It will: (a) Allow an understanding of the housing pathways available to older people and their impact in terms of wellbeing.

It will draw out recommendations for policy and practice reform which will allow older people to exercise choice in how they live. (b) Analyse the current housing, care and support provision within Cambridgeshire and with reference to qualitative research described above, estimate future demand for different housing options.

By establishing a model capable of generating estimates of demand for specialist older persons' housing at the local authority level, tested and validated in Cambridgeshire, this research will result in a model available to local authorities across England.

South Cambridgeshire District Council invite interested research groups with the necessary subject specific and methodological expertise to participate in a pre-market consultation - phone interviews will be held from 10:30 am Friday 10 February.

To arrange an interview please contact Clare Gibbons (01954 713290) clare.gibbons@scambs.gov.uk
