The University is launching a procurement to complete construction and refurbishment works to Hugh Stewart Hall which is situated on the University Park Campus.
The potential scope of works is summarised as follows:- o Refurbishment of the existing accommodation comprising circa 323 student bedrooms, common spaces and social spaces (1930 Block = 105 bedrooms, 1960 Block = 218 bedrooms); o Works to the existing Hall building fabric including window and door replacement; replacement of mechanical and electrical services installations o Overcladding of the 1960's Block o New two storey Amenity/Welcome Hub extension to include new kitchen facility, dining area and social space o Landscaping works in the immediate vicinity of Hugh Stewart Hall The procurement process will follow the Two Stage Tendering Process as described in The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Plan of Work.
The objective is to allow for early facilitating and collaboration between the Employer and the preferred Contractor.
The outcome of this ITT will select the preferred Contractor.
The contract will operate under the JCT Design and Build 2016 contract.
The following provides estimated project timescales: - Preferred contractor appointed - 29/08/2022 - Focus on Main Packages (target 60% cost certainty) - 12/09/22 - Market testing for remaining packages - 24/10/22 - Finalise Proposals - 28/11/22 - Contractor appointed - 19/12/22 - Construction lead-in - 09/01/23 - Construction works - 13/02/23 - Practical Completion - 28/06/24
