The brief

The University wishes to invite tenders for the provision of Media Equipment for the School of Media, Film & Music, MFM, which also now includes Journalism.

The University wishes to appoint a small framework of suppliers to provide the media and broadcasting equipment.

All equipment must be of a professional standard and quality - products from the likes of the following manufacturers would be considered acceptable: Sony, Vocas, Sound Devices (please note that this is not a prescriptive or exhaustive list but is provided to demonstrate the level of equipment that is to be used) and all equipment should be used for the purpose that it was designed for.

The equipment required is detailed in the Tender Return, section 9 and Appendix A.

The manufacture and models provided are those we are aware will meet our requirements.

Nikon F-mount & Sony E-mount are presently our preferred lens mounts.

Equivalents will be considered.

Systems offered should look to the future so that they have the best possible shelf life.

Industry standard components should allow for reuse even when some system parts have been retired.

Any equipment offered must be resilient.

The environment is similar to a film and TV rental house but tougher.

Students do not have professional levels of experience of kit care or the same repercussions for poor care.

All configurations should be optimised with longevity and maintenance in mind – one of the key considerations for specification.
