The brief

Somerset County Council is committed to recruiting more apprentices over the next three years and is seeking to appoint a number of providers to a framework for apprenticeship training, capable of meeting the needs of the Council's new recruits and existing staff employed on apprenticeship contracts.

The Council is seeking responsive providers that can consistently meet the standards required.

The Apprenticeships, to be provided via this procurement exercise, are funded via the Council's Apprenticeship Levy, a proportion of which has been committed as match-funding in a bid to the European Social Fund (ESF) Programme to deliver the Somerset Skills for Growth Project. (in each case "Apprentices") undertaking Apprenticeship Frameworks and Standards normally at Apprenticeship Levels 2, 3, 4 and 5.

The supplier must be an apprenticeship training provider that is on the Education Skills Funding Agency Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers and will be on the register at all material times.

The provider will ensure compliance with the Apprenticeship funding rules for training providers, as published and revised from time to time by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) or any similar or replacement body and, if required, be willing to comply with the requirements of the European Social Fund (ESF).

Total contract value up to £3m over three years, of which £1,353,000 is committed as match-funding in the ESF-funded Somerset Skills for Growth Project.
