National Salt Reserve Storage Contract
National Highways is responsible for managing the national Salt Reserve on behalf of the Department for Transport.
Under the current arrangements National Highways stores salt at Ellesmere Port, Garston, Ridham, North Killingholme and Shapness.
In the event of a prolonged and severe winter this salt would be made available to Local Highway Authorities.
