The Good Grub Club was set up by Abri's Community Investment team in 2017 to help ease food poverty during the school holidays, providing both short term relief in terms of a free meal and long-term support in terms of teaching about nutrition and exercise to help families adopt healthier life choices.
The project also provides people with the resources, skills and confidence to provide high quality and nutritionally balanced meals to themselves and their family, within their budgets.
This is everything from technical cooking skills to smart shopping.
The project additionally aims to increase a sense of community, include elements of fun, and reduce feelings of helplessness or isolation.
We work with local partners, volunteers, and schools to help deliver the project to ensure it is open to the whole community, with a primary focus on Abri residents.
To enable us to effectively continue to deliver the Good Grub Club we are keen to explore potential partners who could deliver this project on our behalf.
We currently deliver the project in partnership with external organisations across lots of our community investment zones, supporting approximately 10-15 families per session.
We are looking to expand our delivery areas to ensure we have Good Grub Club's running where there is a need in all ten investment zones.
The project is expected to begin by this coming October half term (Oct 2023) .
Final delivery of contract will be May/June half term 2024.
