The brief

Our current Research data is widespread and contained on disparate systems internally and external information on citations etc. is also required.

Extracting meaningful management data for planning is a complex and time consuming process for the individuals involved.

The two main drivers for this project are: • REF2020 submission and beyond • Addressing the University strategy’s KPIs to 2018 and beyond, including the sub level measurements and targets for example REF quality outputs High level aim for the University is to have a Research Intelligence system that will answer all of its current research management and reporting needs.

It should improve the internal and external visibility of our research capability, achievements and expertise.

The system will have the flexibility to adapt to future needs and should provide users with an intuitive interface for data entry, review and reporting.

It should draw its content via links with existing business systems where appropriate and be pre-populated with historical data as far as possible.

The key requirements are for the system to be flexible, user-friendly and capable of supporting multiple activities required to support research information in a complex and heavily devolved organisation.
