Conservation Repair Works - Former Post Office, Lowestoft
East Suffolk Council wishes to procure the services of specialist and suitably experienced contractor/s to undertake conservation repair works to the exterior of the Grade II Listed Former Post Office, 51 London Road North, Lowestoft.
A full schedule of requirements will be made available when the RFT is live October 2021, however an emerging list of works required include the following: • construction of scaffold around the listed building • repair and refurbishment of the existing windows to the Listed building (circa 44 windows at first and second floor.
This element may form a separate contract with an earlier start than the main contract.
To be confirmed.) • install new timber framed windows / doors at ground floor • repair and replacement of the existing roof tile, removing concrete tiles and replacing with Welsh slate • possible relocation of the existing access ramp, together with new steps and new metal railings • stone work repairs and some replacement - extent to be confirmed • appropriate cleaning of stone façade • repair and reinstatement of cast iron rainwater goods • installation of suitable bird protection measures - extent to be confirmed • Jetting out and CCTV survey of existing above ground rainwater goods Please note the works are required to commence on site beginning of December 2021 with all works to be completed by the end of March 2022.
Tenderers need to be able to meet these timescales.
Pass/fail - demonstration of suitable experience, at least two projects, within the last 3 years.
Stone work repairs, roofing, work on Listed buildings.
Specialist accreditations required?
Pass / Fail - ability to undertake the project within the timeframes stipulated Quality - sustainability - location as a minimum - engaging the local workforce a bonus.
