Warwick District Council (WDC) is looking for a Principal Contractor for the replacement of roof mounted mechanical plant, replacement of flat roof covering, replacement of 6 no rooflights, necessary repairs to masonry, windows, roof lanterns, roof coverings and internal repairs located at the Royal Pump Rooms.
The proposed budget for this project is ?2 million.
The Royal Pump Rooms building was opened in 1814, when the small agricultural village of Leamington Priors was fast growing into a major spa resort.
Since the 1780s increasing numbers of wealthy visitors had been coming to Leamington to 'take the waters' for their health while mixing with fashionable society.
The Grade II building is now considered to be of national importance, though is at risk due to the failing roof fabric.
As such a MEND grant has been awarded to facilitate the long-term protection of the building.
The building is currently used in a number of ways, these include; o Warwickshire County Council Library o Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum o A highly successful cafe o Gift Shop o Meeting and assembly spaces The roof structure is currently made up of sections of flat roofing and slate tiled pitched roofing interfaced with various upstand details, glazed lanterns and parapet walls, all set over several different levels.
A quantity of mechanical plant is located on the roof.

The principal objective is to ensure long term protection of the building and ensure weather tightness.
This will allow the continued, uninterrupted provision of vital community services and reduce maintenance costs to Warwick District Council.
It is envisaged the length ofthis project will be 9 months, completing by April 2025.
