Concessions Contract - Custodianship for the Operation, Maintenance & Overhaul of Flying Scotsman
This is a large award for Transport Equipment — above three-quarters of comparable contracts. Based on 15,368 valued Transport Equipment tenders in our corpus.
The Science Museum Group (SMG) wishes to establish a Concessions Contract for the provision of custodianship for the operation, maintenance and overhaul of Flying Scotsman (60103).
Steam locomotive 60103, Flying Scotsman, is renowned for being the world's most famous locomotive and is one of the many icons of the national collection of rail vehicles.
Since 2016 it has undertaken a number of mainline runs and visits to heritage railways as part of a custodianship arrangement.
Ahead of the centenary celebrations in 2023, and as part of the custodial arrangements, it underwent an overhaul to ensure that it remained mainline operational.
The current agreement expired at the end of 2023 and SMG are now seeking to enter into a new arrangement that will take us to January 2032.
