The brief

***ADVERT IS FOR A MARKET ENGAGEMENT EVENT ONLY*** NHS South Warwickshire CCG wishes to undertake market engagement in relation to the commissioning of a Community Ophthalmology Service.

The overall aims and objectives of this service are to: • To appropriately clinically triage referrals made to ophthalmology services and ensure that the patient is referred onto the appropriate service dependent upon their clinical symptoms, as described in the referral documentation. • Deliver community-based ophthalmology services for a defined range of eye problems.

This will include ensuring accepting direct referrals following clinical triage via care pathways. • Providing targeted assessment and follow ups, and co-management of specific chronic eye conditions within the community against an agreed set of protocols. • To deliver high quality eye care to patients registered with south Warwickshire GPs. • To deliver improved value for money and cost effectiveness. • Improve eye health and reduce inequalities by providing improved access • Utilise knowledge and skills of primary care optometrists to manage and prioritise the care of the service user and ensure referrals are appropriate and timely. • Reduce the number of visits to hospital eye services (HES) and reduce service user waiting times. • Streamline pathways and referral processes.

The market engagement will include two elements: 1. - The request for market feedback in relation to the following areas: o Clinical skill mix; o Conditions included within tiers 2, 3 and 4.

2. - A market engagement event.

Providers are therefore asked to review the draft specification and other information provided (made available within this notice) and complete the questionnaire which can be found via Eventbrite by following this link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ophthalmology-services-market-engagement-tickets-54403715979.

It is requested that feedback is submitted by 5.00pm on Friday 25th January 2019 in order to allow for the summary and feedback of this information at the market engagement event.

Registration for the market engagement event will also be facilitated via Eventbrite using the same link as above.

The market engagement event will look to provide information on the services and summarise feedback from the submitted market questionnaires.

The event will also include the opportunity for organisations to raise questions with Commissioners regarding the service.

The event will also offer the opportunity for interested parties to be briefed on the proposed procurement vehicle along with an opportunity to gain insight into what is expected from them in preparing a tender.

The market engagement event will be held on 31st January 2019.
