On-Line Video Platform (OVP)
This sits in the upper-middle of the IT Services band — a substantial contract for the sector. Based on 36,449 valued IT Services tenders in our corpus.
Met Office require a complete end-to-end solution for uploading, transcoding, managing, delivering, analysing and monetising video content (On-Line Video Platform) .
It needs to be an easy to navigate UI to make the system accessible and easy to use for non-technical team members (Weather Desk for example upload content) but it also provides an extensive set of API's and SDK's that the Met Office development team use to integrate with various platforms such as the native apps.
The requirement requires knowledge of constantly developing new technologies and feature sets designed to overcome issues that constantly arise as a result of the ever-changing digital and technology landscape (networks, protocols, devices, browsers etc) which means that the Met Office can rely on the supplier for these things.
We require customer service, 24 hours and quick fixes to video problems on the app and website, ensuring that the reputational risk is minimal to the Met Office, and we can fulfil our public task in communicating important weather information to the public.
Without a specialist Online Video Platform, we would be unable to serve our video content to the public or to key content partners.
This, in turn, would mean we would be unable to meet our PWS obligations to deliver presented and non-presented video to the public via our direct digital channels, e.g. web and app.
The provision of these forecasts maintains the Met Office's authoritative voice and supports the UK public to make better decisions to stay safe and thrive.
