The brief

RIMNET (Radioactive Incident Monitoring Network) is a radiation monitoring and emergency response system which was installed in 1988 to monitor the consequences for the UK of radiological incidents abroad following lessons learned from the Chernobyl accident in 1986.

The system is now utilised in the UK response to all major radiological events.

The network consists of over 200 gamma dose rate monitors around the UK.

The contract will be for the operation, maintenance and eventual replacement of the current network, as well as the supply of new monitors to enhance the current technology.

The contract will be for a period of 5 years + up to 2 extension years.

This procurement will take the form of a Restricted Procedure under the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations (DSPCR) 2011.
