Hackney Museum Redevelopment - Design Team Service Contract
This sits in the upper-middle of the Recreation, Culture & Sport band — a substantial contract for the sector. Based on 3,522 valued Recreation, Culture & Sport tenders in our corpus.
Hackney Council wishes to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced museum exhibition design team to lead on the design development and delivery to refurbish and redisplay Hackney Museum, the community history museum for the London Borough of Hackney.
This Invitation to Tender (ITT) covers the design of the permanent display and associated areas from RIBA Work Stage 0 "Strategic Definition" to RIBA Work Stage 7 Completion of the project.
At this stage, the funding for the entire project is not confirmed so this initial appointment will be to RIBA Work Stage 3.
Subject to satisfactory performance and funding being secured for the Delivery Phase, the Design Team will also be commissioned, through this tender process, to manage the implementation of the entire project to completion and handover.
The Lead Consultant will act as the Contract Administrator.
The Principle Designer for the project will be expected to manage from RIBA Stage 0 through to RIBA Stage 7.
The Lead Consultant will be responsible for appointing all other design team members as required.
The Council will appoint the works contractor(s) however the Lead Consultant will be expected to lead on the tender for the appointment(s), manage the contractor(s), and oversee the delivery (works) phase of the project.
This includes developing the tender documentation and managing the works contract(s) to deliver the new permanent displays and associated spaces.
The Design team will also be advising on and providing relevant costs for a Management and Maintenance Plan which will be produced by museum staff.
Community engagement is a key aspect of content development and will be an extremely important part of the development of the designs.
This project is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Hackney Council.
