The brief

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) has a statutory duty under the Children Act 1989 and 2004 to ensure that the services provided to children and young people are safe and effective.

Equally there a statutory duty under the Care Act 2014 that safeguarding practitioners work closely with partner agencies to promote the safety and health and wellbeing of adults at risk.

This means that we ensure that our staff are able to recognise potential abuse and neglect and know how to respond when this is suspected.

Abuse to children and young people may take the form of physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse or neglect.

Abuse to adults may take the form as the same four categories of abuse for children and in addition to that, self-neglect, domestic abuse, financial abuse, organisational abuse, modern slavery and discriminatory abuse.

Due to the nature of the work that the safeguarding practitioners undertake, the authority requires sufficiently qualified provider/practitioners to facilitate safeguarding supervision sessions, on a quarterly basis to our safeguarding team.

The proposed length of this contract is an initial term of 2 years, with an extension opportunity of 2 years and then a further one year (2+2+1), total term not to exceed 5 years
