The brief

You are invited to tender for Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) Schools for the Future Programme (SFF) to convert existing schools from the current 3 tier model for education delivery (Lower, middle, and upper Schools) to a more traditional 2 tier delivery model (Primary and Secondary).

Lawnside Academy is currently operating as a Lower School Academy with a pupil age range from 4 - 9 that is located centrally in Biggleswade.

The site is approximately 1.1 hectares with its topography sloping North-South by approximately 2 meters.

Current access to the site will remain from Lawnside, with a new vehicle entry point and pedestrian entrance proposed to the Southeast from The Avenue that will accommodate four parking spaces, with two of these spaces proposed as EV charging.

It is proposed that the existing school will continue to house the current pupils and staff while the proposed works to expand the school are undertaken.

The proposed works include a New single storey extension consisting of 6 junior classrooms, with associated group room, staffroom, storage and WC areas.

This will be accompanied with a new outdoor sports MUGA, vehicular asphalt and hard informal landscape areas.

The construction phasing and sequencing of works shall entirely be the responsibility of the contractor.

For more detail on the specification and requirements of the project please refer to the tender pack Section 3 - Design Requirements and the project feasibility.

Help and Support - The Council will provide as much support and information as it can in order to help guide you through the Tender process.
