The brief

The purpose of this procurement is to establish a multi-supplier framework arrangement for the creation and supply of NetCat catalogue data to the British Library. creation and supply of NetCat catalogue data to the British Library.

The British Library NetCat project provides for the creation and supply of MARC 21 catalogue records for publications in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.

Currently there are two categories of publications:  printed monographs  e-media Work-packages of varying quantity and content type will be defined by the British Library.

Details of individual work-packages including sample data will be made available to all suppliers accepted into the framework.

Contracts to fulfil the requirements of individual work-packages will be formed under the framework arrangement via further competition (mini-tender).

Currently the estimated total quantity of records likely to be processed under the core work-package of this framework arrangement is in the region of 10,000 per annum, but this figure may vary.

Suppliers accepted into the framework will be expected to provide a per record unit cost that can be 'scaled' or discounted when applied to increased quantities to maximise the value for money aspect of the contract.
