The brief

Council of Isles of Scilly along with its partners including Isles of Scilly Steamship Group were successful in securing Levelling Up Funds for a vessel replacement project to introduce new vessels to provide lifeline passenger and freight services between Penzance and Isles of Scilly.

Isles of Scilly Steamship Group were already well progressed with the design of three replacement vessels working with their appointed naval architects.

The vessel designs had resulted in three vessels: • A passenger ferry, also capable of carrying freight to sail between Penzance and St.

Mary's harbour at Isles of Scilly. • A freight vessel sailing between Penzance and St.

Mary's harbour at Isles of Scilly. • An inter-island freight vessel capable of transporting freight between the islands of Scilly.

As the next stage of the project, the public sector must undertake a due diligence review of the vessels to confirm they are suitable to deliver the lifeline sea link services prior to competitive procurement.
