The Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) Materials
The aim of the Policing Education Qualifications Framework (PEQF) is to work in partnership with the police service and the higher education sector to set minimum education levels for the police service by level of practice or rank, as a key step toward recognising policing as a profession.
The Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) entry route will constitute an essential component of the PEQF and will be delivered through a collaborative approach involving a police force (either singularly or as part of a consortium of forces) working with a degree provider with taught degree awarding powers.
The College's prescribed apprenticeship curriculum for the police constable role (founded on the national PCDA standard) has been developed following extensive national consultation in order to anticipate and meet the current and emerging challenges of 21st-century policing, underpinning the provision of the best possible professional service by the police.
National resources, intended to ensure that forces and higher education providers collaboratively develop their programmes in accordance with national standards are now available from the College of Policing's Managed Learning Environment (MLE).
Details as to how these may be accessed are available at the website below. http://www.college.police.uk/What-we-do/Learning/Policing-Education-Qualifications-Framework/Pages/Policing-Education-Qualifications-Framework.aspx Police forces will contract services from eligible providers via their own procurement processes (either singularly or as part of a consortium of forces).
The purpose of the initial access to national resources through the College of Policing is solely to enable eligible providers to become more familiar with the products and subsequently prepare for, and engage in procurement activity with police forces.
