This sits below the typical range for Research & Development contracts — a smaller, more accessible award. Based on 20,405 valued Research & Development tenders in our corpus.
Marketing Birmingham and a number of partners (The Association of Black Country Authorities, Black Country Consortium, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council, Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Birmingham Airport, DanceXchange and Southside BID) were awarded European Regional Development Funding (ERDF) for the period July 2011 to September 2014 for the ‘Investing in the City Region’ Programme.
The aim of ‘Investing in the City Region’ was to join up activity in Birmingham, the Black Country and Solihull to increase investment, business events and visitor expenditure.
Marketing Birmingham and the above partners, plus Cannock Chase, Lichfield, Tamworth, East Staffordshire, Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest Councils, has since been awarded additional ERDF funding for the period October 2014 to December 2015 to continue to operate the programme in wider area – promoting the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership area (Birmingham, Solihull, southern Staffordshire (Cannock Chase, Lichfield, Tamworth and East Staffordshire) and northern Worcestershire (Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest)) and the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership area (Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton) as a place to visit, meet and invest.
The aim of this project is to quantify the economic impact of the visitor economy from both day and overnight visitors across the ERDF programme area for the second half of 2014 and 2015 to update KPIs for both the ERDF programme and Marketing Birmingham’s Service Level Agreement with Birmingham City Council.
