This is a Contract Award Notice and is intended to provide notice of NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board (herein "the Authority")'s intention to award a contract to deliver Tier 3 Weight Management.
The Tier 3 weight management service provides intensive support to patients referred, for a period of 12 weeks, with a maintenance support period of 9 months.
This includes using an App including regular contact with healthcare professionals via telephone and virtual support, or via a face to face group format.
The programme runs for a 12-month period.
Mid and South Essex ICB is required via a NICE mandated TAG to provide access to tier 3 weight management services including access to Liraglutide (Saxenda).
The service shall also deliver Semaglutide (Wegovy) once it is available in the UK.
Mid and South Essex ICB are currently working with system partners to transform and redesign the weight management pathway, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 services.
The project will include procurement of a new Tier 3 service across the MSE footprint, with a procurement process to commence in Spring/Summer 2024 to ensure the new service is in place by 1st April 2025.
The period of this waiver will be from 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025 to ensure continuity of service whilst existing services and pathways are transformed and a procurement process undertaken.
