THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE ROYAL NAVY
National Museum of the Royal Navy New Permanent Gallery 'Coastal Forces: Spitfires of the Seas'
This is a large award for Recreation, Culture & Sport — above three-quarters of comparable contracts. Based on 3,522 valued Recreation, Culture & Sport tenders in our corpus.
In partnership with the Coastal Forces Heritage Trust, the National Museum of the Royal Navy intends to create a new engaging, interactive experience and exhibition gallery centred on two historic craft, Coastal Motor Boat CMB331 and Motor Torpedo Boat MTB71.
It will tell the story of the Royal Navy's Coastal Forces from inception in August 1916 to its demise in the late 1950s.
The emphasis should be on excitement and entertainment, firmly rooted in historical authenticity.
A more detailed concept document has been appended to this notice, along with further information about the two craft and a brief history of the Royal Navy's Coastal Forces.
The exhibition will be sited in the historic Mine Store building in the former Priddys Hard Naval Armament Deport, adjacent to the NMRN's existing site, Explosion Museum of Naval Firepower, and will be managed as part of the Explosion offer. This building will be fully refurbished as part of another project and will essentially be available as a blank canvas: the project is an exhibition fit-out without structural works.
NMRN seeks an experienced and imaginative exhibition design team to: 1.
Conceive an initial concept design for approval by the Coastal Forces Exhibition Project Board 2.
Incorporating any amendments specified, work up a fully detailed exhibition design brief.
3.
Identify and procure any required subcontractors.
4.

The precise package of work will depend on the final approved design but it is anticipated that the complete package of work may consist of the following, elements of which may be subcontracted: 1.
Development of initial concept designs 2.
Detailed graphic design, print and installation 3.
Detailed audiovisual design, development and installation 4.
