The brief

London Borough of Barking and Dagenham's current contractual arrangement for home care services is due to end 31 March 2024, and we are currently undertaking a commissioning exercise to explore options for new arrangements.

Homecare (or 'domiciliary care') is a service provided to people in their homes to help them live their daily lives where they have need for care and support.

Activities can include but is not limited to the following: - Encouragement to perform daily living tasks - Personal care including support with toileting, dressing/ undressing, washing/ bathing, transfers to and from their bed/ toilet/ chair etc and disposing of waste/ continence pads. - Prompting/ administering medication in line with legislation i.e.

CQC standards - Food and drink preparation/ supervising eating for those at risk of choking - Raising safeguarding concern referrals - Cleaning and domestic support (where part of a larger care package) - Building a relationship with the person who is being cared for' to further understand them as an individual, including their background and preferences.

The Council are keen to hear what our current and potential partners have to say around current requirements for these services in London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and how we might best ensure that any future arrangements will meet the needs of our residents.

We would therefore like to invite interested providers to meet with us to further discuss the services we intend to commission.

A Market Engagement Event will therefore be held on Friday 23rd February 2024 via MS Teams from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.
