The brief

Mid Ulster District Council (Council) seeks tender responses (Tenders) from qualified service providers (Tenderers) for the provision of dog Kennelling facilities and related services (Services) on a fixed price basis.

The contract will be for a period of three years, commencing 1 July 2021, with the possibility of an extension for a further two years upon satisfactory performance.

Kennelling is required for all stray dogs collected by the Council’s Dog Control Staff and all dogs handed over by members of the public that are no longer wanted.

The Contractor will also be expected to sell, rehome or humanely destroy and dispose of any such dogs that are not reclaimed by their owners.

The Council is committed to ensuring the welfare of dogs within its care and reducing the number of unwanted dogs humanely destroyed each year.

The Council is committed to the rehoming of dogs either through sales by the Contractor or by the forwarding dogs to reputable animal welfare charities for onward rehoming.

The Contractor will be required to meet any cost incurred in the provision of this aspect of the Services.
