The contract is to provide Age-related Macular Degeneration scans utilising available capacity at Danes Camp GP Surgery, Northampton, Northamptonshire.
The patients and activity remain under Ophthalmology at NGH.
The Danes Camp facility which is approximately 2 miles from NGH is easy to get to and meets the needs of the NGH patient cohort.
Danes Camp clinic being a local GP clinic allows direct access to NGH clinics for follow up and treatment procedures.
It is not possible to perform the injection outside of the hospital setting as this is deemed to be unsafe practice, therefore the patient would need to return to NGH for their injection appointment.
