The aim of the Service is to: Provide a dedicated safe and effective community-based therapeutic assessment area in the least restrictive setting, as an alternative to an acute setting where experienced staff can support the young person in developing a plan to facilitate safe discharge.
The location of the safe accommodation must be centrally based for the population of Swansea Bay with good access links to and from Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
Ensure that the young person does not require emergency medical treatment/care The Service can be used by a young person for up to 24 hours.
The intention is that any young person using this space would then return home/to a pre-arranged location the community.
Should it feel that the young person would benefit from using the service for an extended period of time (up to 48hours), this will need to be assessed on an individual basis and will need to be agreed locally To focus on helping young people to stay safe by working with them to develop a short- term plan of what to do in the moment.
