The brief

To address the shortfall in skills provision, the 6 major homebuilders have agreed to work with NHBC to expand and develop at pace, multi-trade hubs within designated locations similar to existing facilities at Tamworth, Newcastle, and Cambridge.

Working in continued partnership the delivery model has been finely tuned and is supplying the outcomes it set out to deliver, most notably site ready bricklaying apprentices at scale.

The CITB direct funding of £1.25m is aligned to the attract workstream of the homebuilding sector plan and is supported by the 6 main homebuilders to support NHBC with the expansion of the Tamworth hub and to support the development of a multi-trade hub in Burgess Hill.

The funding is split into two elements as follows.

1) £500K direct award to support the Tamworth hub to expand size and offer to cover Bricklaying, Carpentry, Roofing, and Groundworks.

2) £750K direct award to support the development of the NHBC site in Burgess Hill.
