Short Breaks enable children and young people with disabilities to develop their independence, prepare for adulthood, learn life skills, form meaningful relationships, and socialise with their peers, whilst providing a safe and secure environment for the overnight or daytime stay.
Parents and carers can rest, unwind and spend some quality time with other members of the family, whilst having respite from their caring responsibilities.
The Council has a statutory responsibility to provide a range of quality Short Break Services, which can meet the needs of local families, as part of the Local Offer.
Services will be delivered from a range of Providers in the community across the borough of Ealing.
Short Breaks also play a vital role in the Council’s Early Help and Safeguarding strategies, helping to support parent and carer capacity.
Children, young people and their families can access universally available activities in the community, although activities may not always be accessible to all of our families with bespoke, complex or profound needs.

The proximity of these Services allows for easier accessibility for families, and a more immediate response to the needs of the local community.
