It is anticipated to consist of 3 'Lots': • Lot 1: Waste Collection • Lot 2: Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance (including Tree Management) • Lot 3: Town Centre (the Lexicon) Cleansing Even though it is anticipated that the procurement will be split into 'Lots', the Council will have the option to combine multiple 'Lots' into a single contract if a supplier wins multiple 'Lots'.
Waste collection is a statutory service and it also supports the Council Plan in the green and sustainable environment objectives of getting residents recycling correctly and helping towards meeting recycling and landfill reduction targets.
Street cleansing and grounds maintenance are part statutory; they both support the duty of the Highway Authority to maintain a safe highway network.
Both services also support the duty of the local authority to maintain a clean environment which is a statutory duty under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
The grounds maintenance service does also support the Council’s work on improving biodiversity on grassed areas such as roadside nature reserves and in managed meadow grass areas.
These fulfil objectives in the Council’s Biodiversity Action Plan and the Bracknell Forest Local Plan 2020-2037.
Anticipated contract(s) start date: 01/10/2028.
Anticipated term of contract(s): 8 years with the option to extend for up to a further 8 years.
