Westmorland and Furness Council are publishing this notice to advise are considering the re-commissioning and procurement intentions for a Technology Enabled Care Service (TEC) to enable an alarm response service for the residents of Westmorland & Furness.
The aim of this service is to make full use of new digital technologies to provide the best possible TEC service and experience for the people of Westmorland and Furness.
Considerations are as follows: Commission a Technology Enabled Care Service that: • Delivers a real time and life critical care monitoring service. • Utilises new and improved technologies, as they are developed. • Supports self-management of wellbeing. • Plan and intervene to minimise the impact of the digital switchover. • Ensure all devises are interoperable and use open standards. • Prevents need from arising or escalating. • Enable people to regain skills, using TEC during their period of reablement, and when coming out of hospital. • Routinely collect and analyse TEC care data and evidence what works, as part of service planning, improvement and delivery. • Target funding and investment in new ways of working, new models of care and innovative TEC. • May include a Carers' Contingency Plan Service • Develops a strength based approach that promote people's independence enabling people to become more independent and feel safe and secure (as far as possible) in their own home and in the wider community. • Work in Partnership in an integrated way with practitioners to identify new solutions that reduce risks and increases independence. • Continues growth of the Council's Prevention Strategies. • Support informal carers in their caring role and thus reduce the risk of carer breakdown. • Develop an integrated approach to application of Assistive Technology and Environmental monitoring. • Have an extended range of equipment solutions that are not limited to a single supplier and remains flexible throughout the lifetime of the contract. • Encourage use of Telecare and Assistive Technology in extra care housing, supported living and care homes. • To support people to manage long-term conditions
