The brief

This work aims to tackle the deeply tricky challenges of backlog maintenance and infrastructure but also take the opportunity to improve population health, move care closer to people, support a switch to digital services while moving toward net zero.

The current work programme across the Alliance for the next four years is, in itself, a significant pipeline, likely to be in the hundreds of millions of pounds and involves some innovative and transformational projects building on work we have already delivered – for example Gateshead's leadership to create a Community Diagnostic Centre at the Metro Centre.

We have ambition to go further and are mapping out a 15- year programme, currently potentially valued at up to £3b.

This early engagement gives us the opportunity to share information on technical services, construction and funding, and give you a chance to shape our thinking before we look for more formal partnerships this Autumn.

While this is an amazing programme in its own right, it will be a missed opportunity if it does not add to the North East and North Cumbria economy and increase the skills and capability of the region.

This scope will be wide and varied, and we anticipate running multiple specific procurements across the programme all of which is subject to funding.

We are holding an engagement session on Friday 11th July in Newcastle, due to capacity constraints places are limited, please contact Lynsey Allan if you wish to attend at lynsey.allan@nhs.net
