The brief

The contract is for a single supplier to provide the IS4L Fire Alarm Upgrade 2025-26 - at The Pirbright Institute, Ash Road, Pirbright, Surrey, GU24 0NF.

Overview IS4L Fire alarm system upgrades due to lifecycle and obsolescence and add networking capability to the system, to receive alarms in BACS control room via fibre optic network and implement graphics in Winmag Software so that individual detection points are visible from the control rooms in Plowright and MOD2.

Scope of works: 1.

Site survey (Pre-tender) 2.

Site survey (post-tender) 3.

Planning of works with Pirbright EMS.

4.

Review of RAMS.

5.

Temporary fire detection, such as portable detectors, shall be installed during periods when the permanent fire alarm system is inactive.

This is necessary as the building will remain operational during this time.

Installation a.

Replace existing fire alarm panel. b.

Replace existing Addressable Detectors/Call points. c.

Replace non-compliant 4 core cabling with 2 core FP cable. d. additional cabling is required to relocate detectors 500mm clear of obstructions and 1m clear of air handling units e.

Commissioning and Testing. f.

Soak test. g.

Graphics package implementation in Winmag Plus. h.

Testing of Graphics functionality 7.

Verification of Documentation, loop drawing, Schematics, Cause & Effect asset list, test certificates etc.
