The brief

Wealden District Council (the Council) are at an early stage in undertaking the procurement of a contractor for the development of a piece of land off the A271 near Hailsham, East Sussex.

The Council are a planning for a new refuse vehicle depot and solar farm.

The completed development will include: • Refuse Vehicle Depot, to include Administration Offices, Vehicle Maintenance Facility, Fuelling Station, EV Charging, HGV Parking, Car Park, and drainage attenuation pond. • New Roundabout on the A271 to allow access to the proposed development The estimated value of the proposed development is £15,000,000.

Works are expected to commence on site mid-2026 and be completed in Autumn 2027.
