The brief

The MEDEVAC capability is defined as a platform fitted for role that can move patients with concurrent support from a clinician from Point of Injury (POI) to Point of Treatment (POT).

The Authority will provide a clinician for the aviation MEDEVAC and then conduct a handover/takeover of the patient at the nearest POT landing site to the Contractor provided clinician for the ground MEDEVAC transfer.

This is in order to develop and maintain timely hospital transfers of exercising troops, BATUK staff and their dependents.

This requirement is enduring whilst permanent staff and dependents are based in BATUK irrespective of training taking place.

The requirement is made up of two rotary wing platforms, one covering the Nanyuki area 24/7/365 and the other covering areas for the duration of the exercise 24/7 either in Archers Post Training Areas or Nanyuki dependent on where it is taking place.

The service includes ground ambulance transfer complete with trained medical clinicians upon meeting the rotary wing platform in Nairobi or the transfer of patients from Kifaru Barracks in Nairobi to the approved treatment facility.

Additionally, the service will respond to any road traffic incidents and transfer casualties from hospital to the designated airport for flight back to the UK if required.
