Making Food Better Consumer Tracker
This work is commissioned under the Making Food Better programme (previously known as the Eating Well Choosing Better Programme) which aims to support small and medium sized food businesses to reduce the calorie, sugar, saturated fat and salt content of the food they produce, sell or serve, as well as reducing portion sizes.
The Making Food Better survey (previously known as the Eating Well Choosing Better survey) was historically a biannual online survey first completed in November 2017.
In May 2020, the FSA made the decision to convert from a biannual survey to an annual survey made up of a representative sample of 600 Northern Ireland adults.
The most recent survey (2024) was conducted by Ipsos and published in February 2025.
The FSA has committed to completing the Making Food Better Consumer Tracker annually using the Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) interviewing method (methodology detailed later).
The previous methodology can be viewed on the FSA website.
