The Authority requires access to designated health professionals that are able to provide expert advice 24/7, 365 days a year in relation to the Authority’s overseas child safeguarding arrangement.
Requirements 24/7 ‘reachback’ provision, broken down as follows: Advisory Role: • Provision of specialist paediatric advice (level 5 child safeguarding expertise ) and support to Defence professionals (and those contracted by Defence) across the health and social work community overseas with regard to safeguarding/child protection.
Advice to include assessment, treatment and clinical services for all forms of child maltreatment Clinical Role: • Provision of paediatric child protection medical assessments where there has been a disclosure or there is a suspicion of any form of abuse to a child (completed in line with good practice service delivery standards ) • Provision of child protection medical reports (completed in accordance with the guidance in the RCPCH Child Protection Companion ) • Provision of child protection radiological investigations (completed in accordance with the Joint RCR and SCoR guidance 2018 ) • Provision of a 2nd opinion on medical assessments and radiological investigations undertaken by host nation medical facilities
