This is a large award for Construction — above three-quarters of comparable contracts. Based on 64,002 valued Construction tenders in our corpus.
The Education and Skills Funding Agency requires a suitably experienced Contractor to express their interest to tender for a single storey dining hall extension to an existing secondary school, including external works and preparation of an adjacent temporary accommodation site.
The Contractor will be procured on a full design and build basis (inclusive of PCSA agreement) for the dining hall extension (Approx.
GIFA - 190m2), including toilet facilities (Approx.
GIFA - 15m2), and associated external works (Approx. area - 260m2).
The Contractor will also be required to prepare an adjacent area for a double storey modular temporary accommodation block (Approx. footprint - 650m2), including site services, foundations, external works and temporary access road requirements.
The modular temporary accommodation block will be provided by others and will be occupied by the school between mid-August 2019 to mid-August 2020, with the Contractor required to return and reinstate the site once the modular temporary accommodation block has been removed (removal by others).
The target construction programme runs from April 2019 to August 2019, for handover mid-August enabling the school to install loose FF&E ahead of the September 2019 start date.
The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs).
However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement, and the contract will be awarded on the basis of the following split: qualitative assessment (50%) / quantitative assessment (50%).
