The brief

Lancaster University is inviting tenders on the terms set out in this competition for the supply, delivery and installation of non-contact dimensional metrology equipment capable of providing high resolution 3D surface imaging and accurate metrology of a diverse range of material samples and feature sizes.

Identified as part of the Engineering Department Growth Plan, this equipment will address a multi-user need for quantitative 3D measurement of several centimetre sample areas to sub-micron resolution and will complement the 2D imaging capabilities of existing equipment within the department.

With an ambition for improved research quality across a wide range of disciplines, prospective applications include but are not limited to; advanced manufacturing processes, micro-machined metal components, corrosion and wear monitoring, porous membrane materials, thin film deposits, geological sample morphology and general use within the materials, engineering, biological, physical and environmental sciences.

This purchase must fit within a project budget of £91,666 excl.
