The brief

The Bushey St James Trust (the Client) is an exciting multi academy trust in Bushey, Hertfordshire made up of 2 academy schools, Bushey Meads Secondary School and Little Reddings Primary School.

The 2 schools both became a Trust in February 2012 and the purpose behind the joint application was to develop links between primary and secondary phase education.

The long-term vision of the Trust is to expand further to include other local schools.

The tender project is seeking to appoint a Supplier whose initiative and innovation will be welcomed for the provision of service within the existing facilities for 1 152 students and 140 teaching and support staff at Bushey Meads School and 380 students and 40 teaching and support staff at Little Reddings Primary School, with a focus on providing cleaning excellence The contract being tendered is for 3 years in duration from 1.1.2018 to 31.12.2020 with an option to extend for a further 2 years.

The school year is based on a calendar of 195 days.

5 days are to be used for staff professional development which means that School will be open to receive students for the legal minimum of 190 days.

The contract offered covers the scope for the provision of all cleaning, both internal and external areas (e.g. litter picking), including security (e.g. de-alarming and opening of the sites and closing and re-alarming of the sites) and restoration of the dining area first thing next morning after evening events.

Whilst the Client prioritises value for money as a key objective of the competitive tender process, the governing body is not obliged to accept the lowest price.

The value of the current contract is: - Bushey Meads School: 109 000 GBP, the site currently undertaking an expansion programme with additional areas coming into service over the next year; contract area 10 700 current. - Little Reddings Primary School: circa 30 000 GBP, some areas to be retained in-house; contract area 1 881 m2.

The Client believes that success should be celebrated and that pupils should enjoy their time at school; if lessons are stimulating and challenging then students will love learning.

Much time therefore, is spent reviewing and planning schemes of work to ensure that they are differentiated to meet the needs of all students.

As a result, the School are very enthusiastic regarding work experience and apprenticeship proposals and would welcome the input of the successful Supplier.

As a school who are continually seeking ways to improve and develop the ethos and environment for students and staff, to give them the facilities they deserve and need to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.

The successful Supplier will be expected to provide new kit and such equipment as to allow for efficient and exemplary standards of cleaning.

Please be advised that this contract will be let on a 3 + 2 years basis.
