The brief

Drivers Medical Group currently employs 39 Medical Advisors (MA) and 1 Senior Medical Advisor (SMA) but this may increase or decrease.

As a group they are responsible for applying the medical standards for driver licensing in Great Britain, representing the Secretary of State at appeals and advising the medical profession on medical aspects of fitness to drive.

Since December 2012 licensed doctors have been required to have an annual appraisal based on the GMC's (General Medical Council) Good Medical Practice Framework.

Medical appraisal is a process of facilitated self-review supported by information gathered from the full scope of a doctor's work.

The appraisal forms a mandatory requirement of the GMCs 5 year licence revalidation cycle.

The Contractor shall be capable of arranging, undertaking and recording approximately 40 quality-assured Medical appraisals within a 12 month timescale.

The Contractor's appraiser workforce shall be sufficient to provide the number of appraisals needed each year, these will take place over the year and an indication of the timetable will be discussed at the initial meeting.

All appraisal interviews need to be conducted at DVLA Swansea.
