The project is concerned with the construction of a new 60 unit two storey Extra Care Home on a greenfield site in Amesbury within the Bloor Homes Kingsgate Housing development site.
The parcel of land on which the extra care housing facility is to be built is the subject of a S.106 Agreement between Wiltshire Council and Bloor Homes under which the site will be transferred from Bloor Homes to Wiltshire Council on receipt of planning permission for the extra care facility.
The proposed extra care home is to comprise of 40 two bed and 20 one bed apartments plus communal facilities including Activity Rooms, Caf�, Lounge and Dining Areas.
The gross internal floor area of the new building is expected to be in the region of 6,285m2.
The facility is to comply with Wiltshire Core Policy 41 (sustainable construction and low carbon energy), as well as Housing Quality Indicators, HAPPI principles and the Wiltshire Council Design Guide for Extra Care Housing.
In addition, there is a requirement for the facility to obtain a BREEAM Very Good rating.
The forecast construction value of the project is �9.0m and the required construction completion date is March18.
A Design Team have been appointed who will take the design up to RIBA Stage 3 prior to formal tender.
The envisaged procurement route will be Single Stage Design and Build utilising the latest JCT Design and Build form of Contract.
